On May 21st, 2015 Multiple Fire and Rescue agencies responded to Pinnacle Parkway to assist St. Tammany Parish Fire District 2 with the rescue of two persons trapped in a trench collapse. Upon arrival it was discovered that one victim was deceased and one was viable. Despite poor soil conditions caused by rain and the need at one point to halt operations due to severe weather conditions; both victims were successfully removed and one air lifted by Acadian Ambulance to the LSU Medical Center. The survivor of the trench collapse accident made a full recovery. Personnel from Fire District 2, Fire District 4, Fire District 5, Fire District 13, and City of Covington Fire Department assisted in the Rescue and Recovery. PARATECH, maker of emergency rescue equipment, recently awarded each Fire Department the "Rescue Award" in recognition of the successful technical rescue resulting in the saving of a human life.
